HISTORY OF PAST REGIONS

BWA: Bayou Wrestling Association. Based out of Louisiana

The BWA actually began as Bayou State Wrestling and Indy promotion. We moved after about a year to the NeWA and changed the name to Bayou Wrestling Alliance. Titles were BWA Heavyweight, Mid South, Cajun Rage TV Title, Tag Team Titles and Louisiana State Title. We were one of the original feds that opened up the WfWA. The BWA always had the Mid-South Syndicates coming and going. Over the years in the BWA there were such great feuds, like the most popular was Dez Bradley and Ulfric. They battled over the Louisiana State title several times. Then perhaps the feud with Darrel Besolve and Matt McClain. Or Bryan Smith and Justice.

BWA through its many incarnations would also have working relationships with Silver State Wrestling, based out of Nevada and Burning Phoenix Puro, based out of Japan. If a wrestler ever won a championship in BWA, it proved promise and ability for that wrestler because of how sought after Bayou gold was. Former WWA World Heavyweight Champions such as Matt McClain, Diablo, Mike Bell, Micheal Lennox, Eric Dane, to name a few have at one time or another been a part of the BWA Roster. Even WWA World Champion, Ryan Blasier was a part of the famed and sometimes infamous BWA Family.

Major Players: Dez Bradley, Ulfric, Crippler Matt McClain, Darrel Besolve, Down South Hustla Vince Webb, Mike Bell, Diablo, R J Harris, C J Rowell, Hunter Hill, Michael Lennox. In the later years came Paul Blake, “The Wizard” Bryan Smith, Trench, Jeremy Knyte, Malik Johnson, Justice, Ronin, Terrence Thompson, Wendy Briese, Mike Sloan, and Wrec Hannibal.

Major Tag Teams: 80 Proof, The Unexpected, The Dark Ones, Damon Brothers, The Brothers Mayhem, Shaken Not Stirred, Whirly Birdz and Final Judgment.

NGWA: New Generation Wrestling Alliance. Based out of Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticu

NGWA was the flagship of the WWA for over a year, finding it's home in the states that comprise New England. World Champions such as CJ Rowell, Red Dragon & The WhirlyBirdz VHS were the main stays of the region, but the greatest wrestling story ever told was played out by The Urufu & The Crocodile, Red Wolf & Mitsuta Li. The bloodiest fairy tale known to mankind, Li has never fully recovered from the blood bath at Maple Leaf Massacre, a joint NGWA/EWC PPV in Canada.

NGWA also sent the careers of previous 'WWA also rans' into overdrive, pushing them to WWA glory. Competitors such as Marc McCarthy (Double Crown, National), Jake Devins (Double Crown) and Pharaohs of Rage (Tag). The Massachusetts State Title was one of the keenly contested in WWA history with guys literally ripping it from each other on a weekly basis, the main protagonists being Jake Devins and Miller Magnum though Jay Hunter, Jon Mourton & Carlos Manticore deserve honorable mentions.

Two NGWA wrestlers brought the WWA Crusierweight Title to the region, Joey Tesauro & Donovan Anarchy, though neither stayed long in WWA New England. NGWA also had a women's devision and a Hardcore title, the latter of which would often be defended in strange gimmick matches. A Haunted House Match on Halloween and a Reindeer Stable Match at Christmas.

The NGWA came to a close as rival promotion NEW claimed the rights to WWA competition in New England, after a long invasion. Many of the roster stayed with the new management though inevitably some moved on. Sadly the NEW only lasted a few short months in the WWA.

ACW: Atlantic Coast Wrestling. Based out of Georgia

*** Still to come ***

UWF: Universal Wrestling Federation. Based out of Rocky Mountains

The Universal Wrestling Federation, which was originally called the XEW(Xtreme E-fed Wrestling) was opened on April 15, 2001. It was renamed the Universal Wrestling Federation after the July Pay-Per-View called Showdown and held its first official UWF show in early August. It was then closed down four days before its one year before its anniversary show, when it was the Rocky Mountains region of the IRWA. One month before then, on March 19, the UWF had left its former wrestling interfed, the WfWA, on shaky terms also leaving behind the WfWA World Heavyweight Champion Ryan Corey.

The UWF was reopened in mid-June, 2002, this time boasting stronger organization and even fancier shows. It opened as the Midwest region of the WfWA, again quickly becoming one of the best, if not the most decorated, region in the entire alliance. The UWF lasted three months, before it closed down due to a shaky administrative setup in the middle of September. Over that year and a half of its existence, it boasted much talent and many, many, shows. Most people will recall the early dominance of The Titan, and the legendary matches of Nick Bower. They will remember the incoming of stars like ReVelation and Terry Woods, whose charismatic tones made them super popular. Bryan Allen Desolation, Hacker X, and Azrael also had some success. Others may recall the first female in the UWF to win a singles title, in Glori Allison Rose, or the Xtreemists, or the Shock Force, the EWF, or the odd late tandem of Scorpion Steve and Octavius Giovanni.

Wx3: World Wide Wrestling. Based out of California

Wx3 was all about competition and how much blood you could take from your opponent. Wx3 represented the state of California. It was very much an indy fed feel to it. There were all sorts of players that have plied their trade in that company. Guys like Unforgiven, Zulias, Rathmar, Chilli, Ulfric, Micheal Lennox, and countless others. The region was infamously known for the war between the Prophets of Abbandon and the Mid-South Syndicate. As for champions. The enigma known as Zulias captured the National Heavyweight Title, only for his comrade, Ulfric to win from him soon after. That would not be the only title that Ulfric would win while under the Wx3 banner as he would team with his brother, Micheal Lennox to defeat The WhirlyBirdz VHS to capture the World Tag Team Championship.

CCW: Canadian Champion Wrestling. Based out of Canada

Canadian Championship Wrestling
February 2003-March 2004

OOC Owners: Sean and Marc

Owner: Justin Williams

Commentators: Play by Play; Chancery Winstock, Color; Eric Taylor

Location: Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada

Weekly Show: Tuesday Night Talent

Titles: Heavyweight, Flyweight, Tag, and Northern Endurance

Heavyweight Championship:
The biggest belt you can get in CCW. Period. The Heavyweight Title won't be defended every week, but will be defended more than once a month, unless the Champion is injured, or something along those lines.

Flyweight Championship:
This is the Lightweight Title of the CCW. There is no weight limit, it's all about the style. If your wrestler fits the style of a Lightweight, then we don't care if he or she weights 500 pounds - you'll still be in the Flyweight Division. However, the Flyweight Championship should be viewed as a 'preparation' for the Heavyweight title. Once you are deemed a Heavyweight contender, this championship is no longer in your grasps, as you are in a whole new division. This title will be defended very often, against other people in the Flyweight Division.

Tag Team Championships:
Every Tag Team Match (for the belts or not,) is elimination style. So, it could end up one-on-one, or two-on-one. As soon as the person gets pinned, or he/she taps out, they must go to the back until the match is over.

Northern Endurance Championship:
The champion of this belt will be decided once a year in the Northern Endurance tournament at The 'Great White Hype.'

Supercards: March Madness, Summersault, Sky’s the Limit, The ‘Great White Hype’

Unlike most other federations, Canadian Championship Wrestling had only four Pay-Per-Views a year. However, a Supercard would be thrown out every so often as to end feuds, start new one's, etc. The following are the Pay-Per-Views...

- [March] 'March Madness.' - The attraction to this Pay-Per-View is whoever the CCW Heavyweight Champion at the time is, must put his or her Championship on the line in the main event against the winner of the 'Round Robin Challenge' tournament.

- [July] 'Summersault.' CCW's summer/biggest Pay-Per-View of the year. Since it's the biggest Pay-Per-View of the year... it will be a Two Day Event every year. Hell, maybe next year we'll even have it a Three Day Event.

- [September] 'Sky's The Limit.' This Pay-Per-View is called "Sky's the Limit" for a damn good reason, because the Main Event will be for the CCW Flyweight Championship. Early in the night, a Contender's Match -- a huge one -- will go down to see who faces the Champ in the Main Event.

- [December] The 'Great White Hype.' The attraction to this Pay-Per-View is that the winner of the 'Northern Endurance' tournament will be decided and will be awarded the Northern Endurance Championship which will only be defended once a year at this Pay-Per-View!

Tournaments: Round Robin, Triple C, Northern Endurance

- [January] 'Round Robin Challenge.' The best of the best in CCW will be entered into a Round Robin Challenger style Tournament, where the winner gets a shot at the CCW Heavyweight Championship in the Main Event at 'March Madness'. Everyone in the Tournament will fight everyone else once, and the person with the most points at the end of the Tournament -- [a win is two points, a draw is one and a lose is zero] -- will win the Tournament and the Title shot.

- [May] 'Canadian Cruiserweight Cup.' (Triple C.) This is a Flyweight Tournament, or Cruiserweight Tournament. Any WWA Flyweight can join up. Every match in this tournament has a 45 minute time limit, and is gimmickless. However, no one will be allowed to interfere in the match, and if they do, they will be eliminated from the tournament [or if the interferer is not in the tournament] suspended on the spot. We want fairness and good wrestling during these Tournament matches.

- [November] 'Northern Endurance.' This tournament is a strictly Iron match tournament, every match in this tournament is Iron match rules. However, the matches of the first round of the tournament is only 15 minutes, the matches in the second 30 minutes, the matches in the third 45 minutes, and the match of the last round will be the standard 60 minutes. The winner of this tournament will be crowned at The 'Great White Hype' and will recieve the 'Northern Endurance' championship. This championship is only defended once a year.

Summary: Canadian Championship Wrestling or Cee Cee Dub was created by Sean and Marc in late 2002 and finally opened by February 2003 and took the Canadian region by storm. After about a month of being open the CCW was allowed to join the WfWA, entering at a time when the top ranked fed of NGWA had just disbanded and SSW was reigning supreme in Nevada. With time the Cee Cee Dub earned it’s reputation as the ‘Flagship of the WWA’ with well written, in depth cards that were actually out on time. CCW proclaimed itself to be “Where the talent is!”, and had the roster to back it up. At one point it’s roster was at over thirty people, with the likes of Kevin Cage, Eric Dane, Tyrone Walker, Stephen Greer, Wendy Briese, Rune Archer, Terrence “Twister” Thompson, Misty Xiao, Vinny Mara, Manifest Destiny, the list goes on and on. CCW’s roster also consisted of many WWA champions through out it’s span, and just barely got eliminated from Summer Games. CCW lasted over a year with many shows and much respect from handlers all over the WfWA, finally closing it’s doors after it’s March Madness pay-per-view in 2004. CCW tried to re-open later that year minus Marc in July and had many applicants, but never got back off the ground. Many offers came through from handlers to keep the CCW going, but none were ever accepted in fear that CCW’s name would be tarnished. Is CCW dead forever? Who knows, but if it does ever return, you better believe it’ll take the WfWA by storm once again.

SSW: Silver State Wrestling. Based out of Nevada

SILVER STATE WRESTLING operated out of Reno, Nevada and specifically the small but perfectly formed 'Casino' auditorium. Publically fronted by RICHARD MEKKA, a businessman with $$$ to burn the real driving force behind SSW was mobster JASON MEZZONOTE and his reliable GOONS. Whilst the incompetent MEKKA tried to run a legitimate company, ironically it was MEZZONOTE who got SSW noticed by calling in a favor, or rather demanding a pay-off from WfWA legend ERIC DANE. From the opening press conference, it was clear MEZZONOTE was pulling the strings as RICKY TAVERNA, an unknown was awarded the SSW Heavyweight Title.

ERIC DANE had had a fire lit underneath him in SSW and, despite working for relatively nothing and making peanuts from merchandising to pay-off MEZZONOTE, DANE set out on a violent crusade against TAVERNA and all of MEZZONOTE'S goons which included corrupt cop DAVE 'TEFLON' BERGOIN. With DANE as its figurehead, SSW rose to prominence and power within the WfWA and set the standard for all future regions picking up where NGWA left off as the alliances figurehead.

Whilst ERIC DANE tore the place down night after night, the SSW under card was also a shining light and the secondary LIBERTY BELL CHAMPIONSHIP quickly became a sought after honor and the stepping stone to greater things. STAN MARSHALL, JAX, SYNN, DAN DANGER, FUGITIVE, MARC MCCARTHY and MATT SAUNDERS all added credibility to SSW and 'The Casino' bore witness to some incredible bouts and moments.

SSW's rise was marked forever in history when ERIC DANE was crowned the victor at SUMMER GAMES 3 after an epic finale with longtime rival MICHEAL LENNOX. On route to the final, the SSW team had disposed of, amongst others, a quad from rival alliance, the NeWA.

SSW's first super card was titled BATTLEBORN and, after months of anticipation the fans finally got to see ERIC DANE defeat RICKY TAVERNA for the Heavyweight Title in a five star cage match. Other grudges settled included SYNN facing off against JAYZON CAGE, JAX versus STAN MARSHALL and FUGITIVE finally getting one over on DAVE BERGOIN.

All SSW events can be purchased from the following tape trader: http://www.jamessaunders.net/SSW Be sure to check out MATT SAUNDERS tackling World Champion CJ ROWELL and his 4 star match with DANE, MONOXIDE laying waste to HAMMER and the infamous JUST ANOTHER NIGHT 3, all the action called by THE MOST EMPHATIC, CHARISMATIC, MOST SHOWMANISTIC PERFORMER IN ALL OF SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT...JONNY CATCHPHRASE!

BWA and SSW combined into one federation at one point in time, The legacies of the SSW Nevada Heavyweight Championship and Wx3's California Heavyweight Title ended together with a best of seven match series between Nevada Champion SyNn and California Champion, Ulfric.
The series ended at Summer Games when Ulfric outlasted his rival in an Iron Man Match to win the seventh and deciding match

EWC: English Wrestling Championship. Based out of England

EWC was a WWA mainstay when it defected from NWA in December 2001 and it last left the WWA in April 2004. The company was first launched on 10 July 1999 and enjoyed success with its most celebrated two wrestlers being Erik Maze and Jon Rage before a new star was born in Dark Wolf who rose not just through the ranks of EWC but also to the top of WWA. All major championships passed through EWC at one time or another with World Heavyweight Champion Rayne and World Crusierweight Champions Brittany Fox and The Black Widow being on the EWC roster. EWC was also where Shaken Not Stirred were born. Also launched were the legends of such wrestlers as Ryan Matthews, who also later became WWA World Champion and whose feud with Dark Wolf defined their shared time in the promotion, as well as the history of one Sam Horrey, who later became known as Daishi.

SWF: Sadistic Wrestling Federation. Based out of Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio

The SWF started out as a small promotion based out of only Michigan. The started with about fifteen people that were cast asides from federations that didn’t want them. People like Wrec Hannibal, Tony Floyd, and Chris Saint, Vic Venom, Jose Cabellero, Robert Terry. After about three shows the WWA noticed the SWF and were brought into the WWA. People like Jonathan Cross came to SWF, “Ruthless” Wally Renfield, Dan Easton, and Blade. Others started arriving to get a taste of the Sadistic life style, people like Trent Mathers, Lonewolf, and Kakuma. Battles over the SWF titles began starting with the Heavyweight title. Wally Renfield and Chris Saint battled. Dan Easton and Chris Saint were the biggest feud ever in the SWF. They battled each other for the SWF Heavyweight championship on several occasions, and it would be in the craziest matches thought of. Dan Easton, Wally Renfield, and Chris Saint were perhaps the longest superstars to stay with the SWF. Basically from the beginning until the end, Easton and Renfield both holding every championship besides for the Tri-States title. Following this stuff, Blade was slowly in and out of SWF. But finally stayed in full for a year and a half, he became perhaps the greatest SWF Heavyweight champion ever. People like Matt McClain came when BWA closed its doors, a no name star in the WWA. He went by the name Preston Price. A WWA legend named CJ Rowell stormed into the SWF but formed a stable with former owner Tai Haven called MSW. It stood for Michigan State Wrestling. He took Price under his wing teaching him the ropes, helping him become a star in his own. Price held three championships at once, two were SWF titles, and the other was the WWA National title. Preston was the greatest SWF wrestler to never win the Heavyweight title. While all these people were storming into SWF to try and destroy it, the SWF board of directors had it spread into Indiana and Ohio. Rowell had a feud with returning PNW wrestling Jason Lockhart. He then left and was retired, SWF hit a downfall but Price, Wally, Easton, Saint, and Blade were all still drawing attention to the SWF. Some WWA or NWA legends came into SWF, people like Tyrone Walker, Kai Lewis, Malik Johnson, Trench, and Jonathan Cross returned. People named Bones, Diesel Warren, Eryc Morgan all came into the SWF. Battles between them happened, and they slowly left one at a time, with being injured or suspended. Finally SWF had its last show and closed its doors after being open for two years and three months.
